Graduate Orientation

New Student Orientation (NSO) provides students with a strong foundation for success at SDSU. NSO is for all new first-year, transfer and graduate students. All new students are expected to attend orientation. In addition to registering and/or finalizing their fall or spring course schedule, new students receive introductory information and instruction on the university’s resources, advising, student life, policies and procedures and more!  Attendees also participate in activities aimed at facilitating a sense of community, belonging, equity and inclusion.

All new students are expected to attend NSO. Students that do not attend NSO will have to complete mandatory SDSU training at a later date which may cause a registration delay for the next semester. NSO provides students with a foundation for the rest of their time at SDSU.
Prior to completing the reservation, we highly encourage new students to become familiar with the information on this website. Remember to begin checking your SDSUid

(SDSU Gmail account, not your personal email) for updates and communication from the university.

Complete the Intent to Enroll Process

Submit all of the following items to the Office of Admissions. If all of the items are not received or postmarked by the date listed, it will be assumed that you do not plan to attend SDSU and your offer of admission will be canceled.

  1. Accept Your Offer of Admission and Submit Your Nonrefundable Deposit in my.SDSU
    • Officially accept your offer of admission by submitting the online Intent to Enroll and paying the $400 nonrefundable and nontransferable deposit by the deadline indicated in my.SDSU. The $400 deposit will apply toward your fall basic tuition and fees. If you do not submit your Intent to Enroll in my.SDSU by the deadline, it will be assumed that you do not plan to attend SDSU and your offer of admission will be canceled.
    • If you have questions or problems with your SDSUid, please visit the SDSUid Help page. Additionally, please reach out to the library technology center if you are experiencing difficulties with your account.
  2. Notify Program (if applicable)
    • Some programs may require admitted students to notify them that they are attending. In these cases, admitted students must complete both requirements (submit the online Intent to Enroll and pay the nonrefundable deposit in my.SDSU and notify the department) to officially accept the offer of admission.
    • Refer to the Graduate Programs web page and select your type of program to access contact information for your department.
  3. Final Official Transcripts
  • Degree in Progress: if your bachelor's degree was in progress as the time of admission, you are required to complete the degree prior to enrolling in your first semester at SDSU. A final official transcript with proof of degree must be provided to Graduate Admissions as soon as possible, but no later than September 30. Failure to submit the final transcript with proof of degree will result in a registration hold being placed on you record, which will prevent you from registering for the following term. If you do not complete the bachelor's degree prior to enrolling, you are not eligible for admission. There are no exceptions to this policy. Please contact Graduate Admissions immediately if your bachelor's degree will not be completed prior to enrolling.
  • Other Coursework: if you have any other coursework in progress at the time of admission, you are required to provide a final official transcript to Graduate Admissions as soon as possible, but no later than September 30.

Submit Proof of Immunizations

SDSU requires that students are currently immunized as a condition of enrollment. You are required to submit your immunizations and documentation no later than July 15, 2024 through HealtheConnect to avoid a registration hold. For information on what immunizations are required, visit sdsu.edu/immunizations.
